The former world champion started first for the 30-lap contest, cycling back into the lead after a late Porsche Taycan Turbo GT safety car intervention and with the aid of his final Attack Mode.
Following a red flag and one-lap shootout, the Briton claimed his first Formula E win since Diriyah in 2024 and on Andretti Team Principal Roger Griffiths’ birthday.
The Porsche Formula E Team came away with a double points finish, the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer entering the season as reigning Teams’ and Manufacturers’ World Champion. Factory drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller finished fourth and fifth respectively in the highly efficient Porsche 99X Electric.
By 0.302 seconds over P2 in qualifying, Wehrlein claimed his third São Paulo pole position in a row as well as three points before starting the race from fourth after a three-place grid penalty for a qualifying infringement.
The former world champion circulated towards the front of the field throughout on the 2.933-kilometre street circuit before matching his best result in São Paulo from 2024.
Felipe Drugovich claimed fifth on-the-road in front of his home crowd and in his first race with Andretti, but a post-race penalty for yellow flag infringements dropped him outside the points.
The result means Andretti Formula E and the Porsche factory team sit tied in the Teams’ classification, with Porsche leading the Manufacturers’ classification.
Racing for Charity
Under the motto Racing for Charity, Porsche is making a strong social statement in the current Formula E season, supporting seriously ill children worldwide. For every lap completed by its two factory-run Porsche 99X Electric, the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer donates 400 euros to the charitable organizations Kinderherzen retten e.V., Interplast Germany e.V., and the Ferry Porsche Foundation.
With Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller finishing at the front, the maximum amount of laps have been collected in the first race of the season (60 laps). The total donation amount stands at 24,000 euros.

Comments on the São Paulo E-Prix
Florian Modlinger, Director Factory Motorsport Formula E: ‟A very exciting first race day of Season 12 and a very strong qualifying result for the Porsche-powered cars with three of them in the top three. Pascal put in an extraordinary performance with his third pole position on this track in the last three seasons. Then a race with a lot of excitement and finally Jake Dennis winning, so very happy for our customer team Andretti Formula E. Pascal and Nico finished fourth and fifth, both were good for a podium and Pascal for sure a victory, but an unfortunate safety car meant that was not possible. It is a good start to the season, we scored well with 25 points for the teams’ classification and, thanks to Andretti, 37 in the manufacturers’ classification, which Porsche now leads. A successful start and already looking forward to race again in Mexico City after Christmas.”
Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche factory driver (#94): ‟A bit of a frustrating day to be honest. We were so quick and had a shot at the win but the safety car interventions took away our Attack Mode when we still had three minutes to go. It would have put us from P4 easily into P1, but that’s tough luck and how Formula E is. The good thing is we were strong in practice and qualifying where we were P1 and we just had a bit of bad luck in the race. Was a good start to the season, much better than last year!”
Nico Müller, Porsche factory driver (#51): ‟Really good to get the season rolling and get the first race out of the way because it is always one that is very exciting but also lots of unknowns, so to get that box ticked feels good. Testing is one thing but when you come into race mode with a new team, there’s lots of things to get up to speed with and today we had to be on it straight away. The performance is there and the car is performing very well, which Pascal proved very impressively in qualifying – he is the master of this place! We had a good race, even though it was challenging and maybe we were not in the best positions at the beginning, but we made our way forward and had a really strong Attack Mode phase. Got into the lead and it looked very likely for a podium finish but in the end with the safety car interventions it took away most of our second Attack Mode, which cost us a lot. We still got a good result and it’s a solid start to the year.”
