In the world’s first all-electric FIA World Championship, Porsche gains valuable insights for its electric production sports cars. Key in-house developments include the electric motor and operating software. Formula E also aims to enhance the appeal of e-mobility: “Our heritage in traditional motorsport is unique and is reflected in every Porsche,” says Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport. “Going forward, we want to be able to make the same claim when it comes to electric motorsport.”
The Porsche works team competes in Formula E with the Porsche 99X Electric. Compared to traditional motorsport racing series, Formula E provides all teams with the vehicle chassis and the standard battery.
Porsche will not only bring another all-electric model series to the market – it will also transfer a piece of motorsport technology into series production.
